Twenty minutes on why the diagram on the wall stops being true, what to keep instead, and an experiment that answers architecture questions with evidence from the running system.
Most of the architecture diagrams in the room are lies. Nobody lied. Somebody drew a true picture, then the team changed the system and nobody changed the picture. The talk follows one composed project through five beliefs our industry treats as true, shows where each one breaks, and then shows an experiment: a live architecture model that answers a plain-English question with evidence from the running system. Can we replace Billing independently? On the diagram, yes. In production, no, with four hidden paths as the reason.
Describe a system in plain language, add what the running system shows, then ask it questions. The Billing answer in the talk came out of it. It is an experiment. Expect rough edges.
